Here's a quick look at recent news.
I majored in Studio Art with a focus on charcoals in college. In graduate school, I worked projects using various mediums such as digital media, drawing, and lithography. While I loved lithography, I explored digital media upon graduation due to my limited access to printing presses. The result was the creation of my digital mixed-media prints. The imagery used various layers in Adobe Photoshop then further enhancing the printed surface by using watercolor, pastels, and colored pencils.
I came full circle in 2010 when I returned to charcoals. It was a way to reconnect with working directly on paper and rebuild my drawing skills. I began taking classes with Jeanne Rosier Smith in 2015 and workshops with Shelly Eager in 2016. I learned the proper use and various techniques involved to move beyond a beginner level. Many of my recent charcoals and pastels are based on scenery from local areas or journeys abroad.

I have also created print and web design. During college and graduate school, I took some classes on graphic design and page layout. After graduate school, I found a position working as a desktop publisher formatting Microsoft Word files and creating a pamphlets and flyers in Adobe PageMaker. Over the years, I further developed my skill set by learning new applications within Adobe Creative Suite. Examples of my design work include: Brochures, Catalogs, Flyers, Newsletters, Websites and Web Graphics. I worked on a number of print and web designs for small businesses and groups over the years.
To gain a better appreciation and understanding of pastels, I began taking classes with Jeanne Rosier Smith in 2015 and workshops with Shelly Eager in 2016. I learned various techniques to evolve skills.
I believe landscapes—whether it is a national park, a botanical garden, a wildlife refuge or any open space—create a personal connection between the viewer and the artwork.
